Part of OrneLink’s remit is to facilitate social and linguistic exchange between members. Many expat members of the network would like to improve their French; but lessons can be costly, inconvenient and hard to stick at. There are also many French members who would love the opportunity to practice or improve their English.

Orne Quiz

At the last OrneLink party we held a quiz about the Orne. We’ve put the quiz online, so if you missed the party, or if you fancy trying again, here’s your chance to test out your local knowledge! (You need to login to take the quiz.)

The first 5 people with a score over 75% will get a pack of 10 beautiful postcards "Couleurs de l'Orne" by photographer Stéphane Perera.

Good luck!

OrneLink Party

On Saturday 30th October, OrneLink held its fourth get-together in Alençon at the Hôtel du département. Members from across the Orne came together once more for an evening of fun and good cheer. Guests were treated to the original concept of whisky and cheese testing. Julian Hutchings is a whisky expert and introduced the guests to three very special single malts which he matched with local cheeses (Camembert, Pont Leveque and Livarot). Our chef, Laurent Hageaux, prepared delicious cups of chestnut mousse and battered squash.

We were able to appreciate the magnificent site from our position next to the track, where we also had an excellent view of the paddock, the grandstands and the finish line. The beautiful weather was the icing on the cake!

OrneLink - one year old!

OrneLink celebrated its first anniversary on Saturday 3rd July, on the lawns of the Hôtel du département in Alençon. 300 people attended an informal and relaxed gathering which was hosted by Alain Lambert, President of Orne Council and originator of this unique initiative. Local councillors, maires and Anglo-French members of the network forged new friendships and made useful contacts.

Business Networking 'made in Orne'

On Thursday 18th March, OrneLink hosted the first Business Networking event, at the Hôtel du département in Alençon. Around 70 people attended, a broad mix of both Anglophone and French business people: teleworkers, consultants, manufacturers, lawyers, horse-breeders, artists, accountants… There were also representatives from partners such as Orne Développement and local councillors.
